Answer the Call.

FCM’s Commissioning process is a meaningful, affirming, and rigorous path to formal recognition of your Call to ministry.

It honors where you’ve been, supports where you are, and empowers where The Spirit is leading you.

More Than a Title.

A Recognition of Who You Already Are.

  • FCM believes The Spirit calls every person in a unique way and equips each of us with the gifts needed to fulfill that Call.

Ministry isn’t confined to a pulpit or a building. It is a lived experience that moves through every dimension of a person’s life: their relationships, their vocation, their community, their very presence in the world.

  • FCM’s Commissioning process acknowledges that some are Called to particular ministries that include public leadership on behalf of the Church Universal: to serve, to lead, to prophesy, to accompany.

  • Commissioned Ministers are authorized to serve on behalf of FCM and the Church Universal. They are called to embody the love of God in the world, and to pay particular attention to those who have been alienated, rejected, or pushed to the margins.

What the Process Looks Like

The path to Commissioning is relational, not bureaucratic. It’s a process of discernment with your Regional Vice President, your ministerial colleague, and your own deepening sense of Call.

The process culminates in an application reviewed by the Circle of Directors.

The first step is to become an FCM member, then connect with your Regional Vice President.

Connect with Your Regional Vice President

Your Regional Vice President (RVP) is your guide, advocate, and co-discerner throughout this process.

Before anything else, you’ll have an in-depth conversation with your RVP about your Call: what it is, where it’s come from, and where you sense it leading. This relationship continues all the way through to the Circle’s review.

COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION PORTFOLIO

Compile your application materials and formally apply for Commissioning after meeting with your RVP.

You’ll complete your application and submit it for review at one of the four Circle reviews a year.

CIRCLE REVIEW AND COMMISSIONING SERVICE

This may be the most meaningful part of all. Together with your RVP, you’ll design a Commissioning service. a visible, communal expression of your ordination.

Many members choose to surround themselves with friends, chosen family, mentors, and colleagues for this occasion. It is a celebration of who you are and the ministry ahead.
